Roy Carter
(April 1938 - August 2012)

"Born in North London, in 1938, I am a self taught artist/sculptor working with various mediums, marble being the primary one. Geoffrey Bennision, the artist / designer and my mentor for many years, gave me my leaning towards architectural and classical influences. Much of my previous work has been commissioned, some of it is about the ordinariness that seems to pass through our lives unnoticed, which when featured in another concept and material takes a step forward! Minimal explanation is the real meaning of my work. Most of my work is in high and low relief, mainly using Carrara marble. I also work in terracotta, plaster, scagliola, stone and semi-precious stones. My work is suitable for both interior and exterior display. Other art forms :- Pietre dura and architectural. All work is mostly crafted using handtools."
